Bali Short Short Trip (5 Jun to 8 Jun)

(Side note: uncle keep haunting me for the pictures, faster post. Warning: It's very much a temples, temples and more temples trip.)

5 Jun 2010 (Friday)

Wee, off to Bali!!!!! 7pm flight

Some entertainment lounge in T2. supposed to be a deejay + some guitar thingy. Not fun de.

Day 1 ended just like that, flying there. Our villa is located among padi fields, hence there is a very nature feel to it.

6 Jun 2010 (Saturday)

My 男人 made me wake up at 435am, to go see the sunrise at Sanur Beach (approx 45 mins drive from our villa). Uncle and jx chose beauty sleep over egg yolk.

We reached the beach at about 530am. Finally saw some light at 550am:

It started to get brighter, this was 6am:

This was about 624am, and by this amount of light, we have given up hope on seeing the egg yolk in the sky. The guide told us that it was too cloudy that day.

But amazingly, we saw this at 628am! The little egg yolk peeking at us through a break between the sea + the clouds!

The full yolk appeared at 630am! We were so very lucky! The "space" between the clouds + the sea was just nice for the yolk to pop out. Too bad my cammie is Pte Ltd... Cant zoom in too much.

Went back to villa, to have our breakfast, and to pick up uncle and JX for the remaining day tour.

Day view of our resort. This is where we stayed.

The front desk. Uncle nv take photos of this, saying that we would have taken photos of it..

The other corner of the front desk, there are books, free for the guests to read... But not sure if anyone does read...

From the front desk, this is where the villas are situated. The hut is actually a place for us to have our meals. But then we can have our meals delivered to the villa as well, and we did not come out to eat at all. Lazy bunch of pp.

Walking down from from the front desk..

The dining area in the hut which I mentioned previously.

Walking to our villa.....

Still walking to our villa. It is like a maze.

The front door of our villa. It's quite interesting, they use those old china type of "locks" to lock the door.

After opening the doors, the 2 villa rooms + the pool greets us.

This is the dining area + the sunbathing place i guess? But we din use those 2 green chairs at all.

For pictures of the bed and the bathroom, can see uncle's post. But I kind like this small little setup in the toilet. The basin + the toilet bowl are separated by this wall. So it's kinda interesting, while the other person is doing the business, the other person can bathe / brush teeth / wash hands and face. Dun need to waste time!!

Actually got 2 shower heads...2 pp can bathe together at the same time. In case anyone is wondering, but we din.

The resident cat and dog, which always visits us during our breakfast. I think the dog is named Mickey by the staff, but I could have heard wrongly.

Helicopter view of our first day bf spread. It's a main for each of us and 3 others to share, since we can have unlimited orders of the bf menu. The pancakes are special, with banana and pineapple flavours. And they really cut out the banana and put it in the pancake. See top right hand dish. But too much flour, me thinks, quite a heavy pancake.

1st stop. Translation: Elephant Cave.

Overview of what we saw:

Guide says we can get good luck if we wash our hands for 3 times with the water out from the jugs. And so we did. See if will heng anot.

I think this is the cave. Inside this cave, can pray to the Linggah. I think, dunno how it's spelt. For men fertility one. Heh Heh. I think some of the souvenirs are in the shape of the male organ. But we din buy any back.

As we were leaving, JX, with sharp eyes, noticed this announcement. See point 1. Heh, the guide nv ask us if we have our ahem anot leh...

2nd stop: Dunno the translation.

A special day where worshippers gather at the holy spring to catch some of the holy water.

Very crowded, so hardly have steps for us to stand.

"保佑我发大财"

Royal family staying in the midst of the hustle.

Our grp photo in sarong.

A closer look at the happy travellers.

(Sarong and belt was rented from the entrance of the temple)

"What a big and sturdy arms,..I like,....."

(Our guide cum driver - Susila)

A village ceremony in progress. They will route march all the way with the offering to the temple. The holy outfit will be white shirt.

"Bali white Kopi,....anyone?"

"Mocha, ginger tea, chocolate, lemon tea and Kopi"

That is cinnamon stick to add to the taste.

If you can see the cup, we're enjoying a pot of tea from Lake view hotel overseeing the Agung Batur.

The black patches are actually volcanic ashes.

Lake beside the mountain.

"Lunch time! Beside the rice terrace..."

"What strong and sturdy arms,.....I like....."

Peyy seem to be popular with Balinese guys,...hmmm,....

View of Rice terrace as we wait for our lunch.

Uncle is happiest waiting for lunch.

"Lunch time!!!!!"

Look at those happy face when food arrives.

Balinese fare (Most of it comes with Keropok)

Visiting 花果山 - land of the Monkeys

How many monkeys can you spot?

Trees where Tarzen learn to swing

"Let me style your hair"

UluWatu, last stop to see sunset before we break for dinner.

"Dinner's next!"

Blissful couple with uluwatu as the backdrop.

Notice the cliff behind. It's actually very windy.

A group shot.

Notice the little monkeys along the edge. Very very naughty monkeys.

Sunset at Uluwatu.

Very memorable sunset, 100% of glasses owners in our group were robbed of their glasses by the monkeys. They just snatched the glasses off our faces, and we had to trade with the monkeys for our glasses for food (by tipping the locals who provided the monkeys with food). This kinda spoilt the day. Makes me wonder if the monkeys were trained by the locals to do that....

Damage to my spectacles was nothing much, just those scratches made...

Uncle's one was bad. Both ends were chewed off by the monkeys...

Finally! Dinner! after the disturbing sunset. We couldn't really decide where to eat, so we ended up at this Ganesh Place.. Forgot the name of the restaurant. Seafood shopping!

Our fish.

Originally we had a live lobster, but it was too expensive, and we refuse to pay so much, so end up we changed for a dead lobster.

Sotong! VERY NICE

Happy couple enjoying candlelight. Can't see the candlelight..

LOBSTER! alot of meat.

Our fish. Grilled.

Prawns...looks a bit pathetic. Maybe they threw back a bit after we tried to haggle over the price.

This is the yummy calamari (dunno how to spell). DAMN NICE!!!! Soft, chewy, yums to the max! My FAV

Uncle happily eating the legs of the lobster. His first ever lobster.

7 Jun (Monday)

2nd day breakfast. Didn't order as much liao, to prepare for our massage later!

First stop for the day: Venetia Spa? Forgot how to spell le.

The room where we had the massage. First time we had yogurt all over our bodies instead of consuming it....

Bathtub full of rose petals.

Taman Ayun

Some characteristic of their temple doors. Always got 3. The middle one for the royals, the left side for women, right side for men. (if i remembered correctly)

Nice sunny weather that day.

Bell tower. Climbing down is kinda scary.

The bell in the bell tower. Wonder how to sound the bell...

Lunch!

View of the lunch place. Paying for the view.

Our spread:

At the twin lakes, with our guide. It was super misty at where we were...so I not uploading the photos of the lakes..can't see much.

Ulun Danu, another temple place.

This is what we are supposed to see.

Close up for uncle.

Actually the opposite shore is quite serene. Nice place to chill and nua. Quite relaxing.

Uncle say this frog reminds him of the 招财猫. JX say they will wake up at night and jump around the temple.

Uncle has a photo taken here, but it shows him being very fat among the tall thin trees..haha. POST LEH!

This eagle was made out of part of a tree. Kinda amazing.

Last stop for the day: Tanah Lot Temple sunset. Yes, another temple.

The shops leading to the temple.

Entrance.

Where pp gather to watch the sunset. A couple was taking wedding photos there.

Sunset. The dots in the water are actually surfers, enjoying the sunset, trying to catch for the right wave to surf.

Temple on some interesting structure.

Big big waves

Nice and cheap ice cream on the way back to the van. Magnum there is really cheap, but it's abit smaller though.

Where we had to do our last min shopping for some stuff to buy back to singapore. It's the equivalent of 7-11 in sg.

Dinner!

Candlelight dinner again.

Uncle and jx's Chocolate milkshake.

Peyy's parsley tea.. or something like that...

Crispy duck.

Chicken.

Curry.

Spring rolls.

Sotong. The pictures dun do this dish justice.

Our desserts! BEST! Highlight of the day. NICE NICE CAKE

8 Jun (Tuesday)

Some local snack that our guide bought for us. Tapioca with palm sugar. Quite nice after we left it in the fridge overnight.

Strawberries for bf, quite sour..

We got kena once too... Our guide handled for us.
